In a shocking turn of events, a highly classified internal inquiry within the Pakistan Army has revealed the direct involvement of several high-ranking military officers in nepotism and the tragic “Islamabad Massacre – 2024”. According to the report in our possession, this inquiry was initiated after the report by Maj Adil Raja (Retd), a decorated War Wounded Officer (WWO) based on the intelligence provided by the 786 Intelligence Battalion, an outfit of dissident officers serving in the Pakistan Army, who has exposed the following officers:
-
PA-37643 Brig Waheed Abid Khattak – Director of IO Ops Division ex ISPRknown for his expertise in Signals.
-
PA-37693 Col Shehzad Raza – Deputy Director IO Ops Division ex ISPR, also specialized in Signals.
The inquiry has unearthed that Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, was aware of the close ties between his wife, Irum Munir, and Nadia Batool alias Sadia (wife of Col Shehzad Raza), which were rooted in their shared Shia faith. This relationship has influenced Asim Munir’s decision to avoid a formal Court of Inquiry under PAA-1952, which would expose his wife’s involvement.

Report reveals that Nadia Batool alias Sadia (wife of Col Shehzad Raza) has befriended Irum Munir during Asim Munir’s posting as QMG at GHQ and Col Shehzad Raza’s posting as Deputy Commander HQ Army Signals at Rawalpindi. Their frequent family visits and joint participation in religious congregations have further solidified their alliance.
Through Nadia Batool alias Sadia (Mrs Col Shehzad Raza) , Irum Munir clandestinely monitored the activities of Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif , DG ISPR & PA-31195 Maj Gen Kamran Tabrez Savera , 47 BR ( DG B – IO Ops Div) and their policies. Maj Gen Kamran Tabrez Savera has repeatedly contested this arrangement but ultimately tolerated out of his fear for Mrs Irum Munir’s power and ingress. This deference has enabled Col Shehzad Raza to operate without oversight.
Asim Munir has been reported to be protective of his wife, ensuring through Lt Gen Asim Malik, DG ISI, and Maj Gen Faisal Naseer, DG (C), that her name remains out of the public eye. Despite this, Irum Munir’s advocacy for Shia interests has allegedly been used to strategically position loyalist officers within the Army.
In response, Lt Gen Amer Raza (CGS) and Lt Gen Azhar Waqas (AG) have initiated separate informal intelligence probes:
- CGS Lt Gen Amer Raza tasked Maj Gen Wajid Aziz, DG MI, with overseeing the probe, delegating to covert units like 408 Int Bn, 733 Field Intelligence Cover, & 604 FS Section.
- AG Lt Gen Azhar Waqas directed the OC Special Investigation Branch (SIB) through DG PS&PM for a parallel inquiry.
The key findings of these probes are alarming:
-
- Col Shehzad Raza is described as a hardline Shia with ties to Iranian, Iraqi, and Syrian intelligence, and affiliations with Hezbollah. His activities have ncluded engagement with religious factions in Hangu and Kurram Agency, and maintaining close ties with influential figures like Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Irum Munir.
- Irum Munir has been frequenting sacred sites in Iran, Iraq, and Syria, with privileged access to Iranian officials, while Asim Munir maintains a confrontational stance towards Iran publicly.
- Nadia Batool alias Sadia has played a significant role in intelligence gathering against former military leaders, aiding in the removal of Lt Gen Awais Dastgir and supporting the appointment of Lt Gen Amer Raza as CGS.
- Col Shehzad Raza has a history of moral corruption, including substance abuse and extramarital affairs.
Allegations against Brig Waheed Abid Khattak and Brig Faisal Mukhtar and his wife, Lt Col Dr. Ayesha Faisal, have been substantiated, involving embezzlement from CMH Rawalpindi and illicit relationships. In this connection following officers have been named and probe has been recommended:
- PA-35752 Brig Kamran Sarwar (AC) Ex DD PS-1S
- Col Shehzad Salim Malik (Arty) , Ex AAG PS-1A
- PA-28257 Maj Gen Muhamamd Imtiaz Khan , Ex DG PS&PM
- Col Shehzad Raza is described as a hardline Shia with ties to Iranian, Iraqi, and Syrian intelligence, and affiliations with Hezbollah. His activities have ncluded engagement with religious factions in Hangu and Kurram Agency, and maintaining close ties with influential figures like Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Irum Munir.

The inquiry recommends immediate action:
- Relocation of implicated officers from GHQ to remote locations.
- A strict ban on interactions between Irum Munir and Nadia Batool alias Sadia.
- Continuous surveillance by 408 Int Bn.
- Conclusion of the informal inquiry against Lt Col Dr. Ayesha Faisal regarding embezzlement and misconduct.
Given these grave findings, we call upon the international community, human rights organizations, and governments of the US, Canada, UK, and EU to impose travel bans on these officers for their roles in the “Islamabad Massacre – 2024”. The integrity of the Pakistan Army and the justice for the victims demand nothing less.
