Cricket Collapse, National Crisis: Pakistan’s Hybrid Failure Exposed

Pakistan’s humiliating defeat to India in the Asia Cup final is not just the collapse of a cricket team, but a metaphor for the systemic rot corroding the nation from the very top: the “hybrid” military establishment. Under Mohsin Naqvi’s stewardship—whose appointment is widely viewed as nepotistic and compromised—Pakistan cricket has become a den of corruption, incompetence, and cronyism, mirroring the wider decay of institutions under perpetual army intervention. Pakistan’s repeated losses to India on international stages, including three defeats in the UAE Asia Cup, are not accidents but the outcome of governance rooted in patronage rather than merit.

The Fish Rots From The Top

Those who still argue that the “hybrid” system in Pakistan is anything but a euphemism for military rule are either deluding themselves or complicit. Generals drunk on impunity, propped up by pliant civilian fronts, have now engineered a system where genuine popular representation—such as Khan supported independent candidates landslide victory in the February 2024 elections—is systematically denied, buried by Western bodies like the British Commonwealth and EU, and replaced with manufactured consent. The so-called democratic anchors and media have become a cartel of fear, refusing to challenge blatant falsehoods, such as the surreal claims aired in Mehdi Hasan’s explosive interview with the defence minister: that Imran Khan’s Twitter account is being handled by a puppet of India—the very man who galvanized 250 million with calls for dignity and change.

The Western Complicity and the Commonwealth Cover-Up

The bombshell Dropsite investigative story exposes in minute detail how the Commonwealth actively suppressed the February election results, collaborating with Pakistani authorities to keep Khan’s historic win hidden and his supporters battered or vanished. Over 42 months, more than 50,000 PTI activists—some for days, some for months—have been imprisoned or disappeared. Hundreds are believed to have died since the brutal clampdown in Islamabad, yet the chorus of condemnation from Western liberal democracies remains muted, revealing their interests in stability over democratic principle.

Asim Munir’s Faustian Bargain

The military elite’s desperation to shore up internal illegitimacy is matched only by their craven courting of external power brokers. With reports swirling that Asim Munir is offering everything—from family jewels to strategic concessions to President Trump—to keep the military regime afloat and shielded from the wrath of Khan’s supporters, Pakistan’s sovereignty is being bartered away for one man’s tenure. Mehdi Hasan managed to get the truth out of defence minister Asif: “ The country’s real ally remains China, not the US, “

despite Asim MUNIR’s attempts to play superpowers off against each other in a bid to maintain his grip on power.

Media: Mushrooms In The Dark

Pakistani journalists and anchors, who should be society’s watchdogs, have degenerated to being handmaidens to dictatorship.

And as the circus came to the UN, The farce of Shama Junejo parading at the UN with puppet politicians only underscores the total impotence and shamelessness of those who claim to speak for the public.

Exiled journalists and the Pakistani diaspora are left posing desperate questions: Why has national pride—like cricket—been sacrificed on the altar of militarized mediocrity? Why do Western capitals, supposedly champions of democracy, collude in suppressing the truth about Pakistan—history’s largest rigged election, a reign of terror unparalleled since Partition, and a society brutalized to breaking point?

Imran Khan : “what doesn’t kill you can only make you stronger “

After nearly three decades of being the Lone Ranger in a military cartel dynastic dump truck, Khan is now more a movement than a party leader , battered by the longest and harshest martial law in Pakistan’s modern history. The story of thousands marching to Peshawar in peaceful defiance, despite the risk of death or disappearance, is a testament to undying hope. The generals in Rawalpindi may bend backward before foreign patrons, manufacture lies, and crush dissent—but for every moment of darkness they enforce, the will of the people glimmers bravely in the shadows.

Pakistan’s current agony is not a puzzle without clues. The fish rots from the top, and in Pakistan, the top is a military machine—unaccountable, self-serving, and allergic to truth. Until genuine democracy is restored and the people’s voice is heard, every cricket defeat, every vanished activist, and every censored anchor will remain evidence of that rot—raw, festering, and in full public

When the economy is in shambles and the bloated army doesn’t have enough money to pay its soldiers, the generals are forced to find new ways to pay them to avoid revolts from the inside. If the soldiers are not paid, they would simply revolt against the generals. History is witness to this harsh reality, many times, all over the world (from America, France, Russian, etc., etc.). It is no wonder, Gen. Asim is giving pay raises to the army officers and soldiers. It is also important to remember, Gen Asim also increased the salaries of Punjab Police after they used violence against Imran Khan’s supporters in Lahore in March 2023.

This NATO-like agreement with Saudi Arabia (where an attack on Pakistan would be considered an attack on Saudi Arabia and vice versa) is to earn money for the generals, officers and soldiers of Pak Army. The generals are thinking about their survival; ordinary civilians don’t matter, even under these dire economic conditions. Now the fight is for survival between the ordinary citizens of Pakistan on the one-hand and the Pak Army on the other. Time will tell who wins!

The Pak Army is hardly a dignified army of the country. In reality it is a private security-guard company that looks for opportunities to provide security-guard services to whoever will pay them.

Whether it is to protect Western interests inside Pakistan (American war on terror -1990’s) or outside Pakistan, anywhere in the world. They will also not hesitate to murder and even sell their own citizens to other countries for money. Pak Army abducted Dr. Aafia Siddique in 2003, handed her over to American CIA in Afghanistan for a “fistful of dollars.”

Some examples of providing security-guard services are:

In 1970, Pak Army under Brig. Zia was responsible for the killings of between 2,000 to 3,400 Palestinians in “Black September Massacre.” Their paymaster was King Hussein of Jordan.

In the 1990s, Pak Army provided security-guard services to America for the American “war on terror” that they didn’t have anything to do with. America hired Pak Army to fight a proxy-war against Russia (then Soviet-Union). This time, Pak Army was paid by their top paymaster, the Americans. The human toll was immense – Pakistan lost approx. 80,000 people with the economy of the country destroyed. That forced Pakistan to borrow more money from the IMF.

In 1993, twenty-five Pakistani soldiers were killed, providing security-guard services to “UN – UNOSOM II. Their paymaster was the United Nations Organization (UN).
From 2004-2017 in Haiti, Pak Army provided security-guard services (labeled peacekeeping services) on the other side of the globe to UN-MINUSTAH. Their paymaster again was the UN.

Since 1960, over 200,000 of Pakistani military troops have provided security-guard services (labeled peacekeeping ) in 46 UN missions across all continents, having lost at least 169 troops on the job, but earning millions of dollars from the UN.

Pakistan is one of the largest military troop suppliers, with 8,230 troops, providing security-guard services (labeled peacekeeping) around the globe, constituting over 9% of UN’s total deployment, according to Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN. The Pak Army earned millions of dollars from the UN.

It is also important to remember that Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of MBS, has bought Billions of dollars’ worth of missiles, planes, radars, etc. from America. Why does MBS need Pak Army to defend the Saudi Kingdom? Pakistan’s economy is on the verge of collapse, why does it need to get involved in a war – with anyone or on anyone else’s behalf.

Arab leader’s conduct while the live genocide and total annihilation of Palestinians go on unchecked:

“Arab Leaders CAUGHT Helping Israel Attack Iran AND Gaza”

Arab Trillions for Trump as Israel massacres children in Gaza

Please vote to let Gen. Asim and PIC generals know your opinion on this Nato-like agreement with MBS of Saudi Arabia

Do you think it is wise for Gen. Asim and the PIC generals to tie Pakistan into this contract for Riyals?

1) No, not at all. It is obvious this contract is about “Riyals for Pakistani blood.”

2) Yes, the contract will provide jobs to Pak Army officers/soldiers and Pakistan can get some Riyals as foreign currency. It is worth it for the sake of our shattered economy.
